I'm not sure the Amazon reviewer is reviewing the same CD.

These are all the original versions that you know and love by Clapton. A short and tight collection of Eric's best solo tunes. If you are new to his 1970's and early 80's songs, this is a good place to start. If you want something for the commute, this will get you there. The "ground-breaking, environmentally-friendly packaging format" does not have notes, but does tip you off as to where you can find them on-line. There are a few pictures and the track list on the package however. It's the digital age I guess.

Nashville Bread

My interest in these guys is Jimmy Griffin. You know, the guy from Bread. He was the rockier half with Robb Royer. This album does feature one Bread song by the other half, Everything I Own (David Gates). A nod perhaps.
This Nashville trio is pretty light, but I don't mind. Sounds a bit like Poco, Eagles, Pure Prairie League with a bit less rock. The harmonies are gorgeous.

The cover art doesn't have the correct song list. It shows 8 tracks on the CD, but this is incorrect. The disc itself shows 9 songs. Track 6 should be the Sly Stone song "Somebody's Watching You," but "Party Next Door" is listed on the artwork. "Party" is track 9.
So, if you are thinking of listing this CD and can't seem to find a match, look again.

The Rutles - Archaeology (Virgin 1996)

While I was/am a Rutles fan from the their beginnings (a lunchtime ago), I have never heard Archaeology until today. After the first listen, I am floored that it took me over 20 years to get to it. I've got to say, I probably just expected it to be tired retreads of an old joke. But it's way more than that. This is an album of pure fandom. Made by fans, for fans, with love.

Neil Innes, I can't thank you enough. I'm sorry I was so late to the Rutles encore, but happy I finally made it.

Not country. This was a popular independent release in the Northwest in the 1989-1991 period proving once again that Seattle was not all grunge. It sold over 32,000 copies. This is more like adult-contemporary.

Cody Records track list:
1. Musical Chairs For Modern Lovers
2. What Else Are You Good At?
3. River of Hope
4. Stand up
5. That Kind of Woman
6. Successors In Right
7. Mesmerized
8. That Boy Is Driving Me Crazy
9. Hard Neighborhood
10. Don't Look Back
11. From My Father's House
12. I Could Give You This

There are song samples at Amazon of the mp3's or she has a mySpace page where you can listen.

This is a Joey Molland album.

The actual title should be "Joey Molland sings Badfinger." There's nothing wrong with this album, just the fact that it's misrepresented as a Badfinger group effort when Joey is the only original member on it. If you take it in that spirit it's not all that bad.
Joey does a pretty good job of only slightly reimagining his band's old repertoire. I would have to say the worst thing about this is the drum sound, which makes it sound of the time in which it's recorded. This can be a little distracting.
If you have the original Badfinger recordings and want more music this isn't such a bad way to go, but I wouldn't go here first. A Joey Molland album in all but name.
BTW, there are two or three other versions of the same album out there. Buyer beware.

This is an instrumental album with Billy's organ as the lead instrument. The songs are from his VeeJay Records output from 1964 to 1965 with seven of the songs Billy Preston originals. The remaining songs are covers of hits of the time (<1965).
If you like Booker T & the MGs, you'll like this too.

Beware!
This sounds more like an audience recording than a broadcast recording. The quality is not bad, but it's not up to broadcast or studio quality. Since its an intimate acoustic show in front of a small audience you can hear most everything with a minimum of distortion or talking.

The last 2 songs aren't even from this show.

"Citizen Kane Jr. Blues 1974 Live at The Bottom Line" is a recent official release of this show, but they use the same bootlegger's tape for it.

At 21 minutes and change, it's a little short. It seems to be split between Yardbirds cuts and early Clapton cuts from elsewhere. The sound is a bit rough in spots due to its original recording, but very listenable and enjoyable. Over-all, it's a very bluesy album.

This is the album that made me a Ray Stevens fan. I always hoped he would do more of this. While he did later have a big hit with "Everything is Beautiful," the songs on the album it came from were not all Ray Stevens originals. The closest that he ever came to this again was his 1970 album "Unreal" with only two songs on it not written by Ray.

No hiding behind the mask of a clown stuff on this one. The late 60s middle class suburban man does some soul searching and has a little talk with himself. Forget the novelty songs, this is the real deal.

This is Ray's masterpiece.

Ray Stevens - Face The Music/Complete Monument Singles 1965-1970 (Ace 2016)

Primarily known for his novelty numbers, Monument actually gave him more of a forum to try his hand at more serious pop. He did do a couple of novelty numbers for Monument, but the bulk of his singles output for that label were the more serious attempts.
The first couple were Joe South penned tunes (Party People & Devil May Care) that failed to make much of dent in the popular consciousness. So what do they do? Release a novelty tune of course.
By 1968 Ray had put together his masterpiece, Even Stevens. The late sixties middle class suburban man does some soul searching and has a little talk with himself. The irony being he saw himself as the minority in one of his songs. Fully half of the album was released as A&B sides of singles. Mr. Businessman probably being the most played by radio.
From Party People to his last for Monument, The Fool On The Hill, both sides of all of his Monument Singles are here.
Good stuff.

For all of you power-pop lovers out there this is a find! If I didn't have it already, I would be all over this album. Seattle is not known for it's power-pop, but it should be. It has been buried under the avalanche that was known as grunge. The Posies, Young Fresh Fellows, The Green Pajamas, The Moberlys and Sister Psychic were just a few of the other Pacific Northwest acts that played the clubs with tuneful abandon.
If you like your rock with a catchy melody or your pop with a slightly harder edge, this is it.

Unlike other Doors hits packages, this one is all remixes (not just remastered) from the 40th anniversary collection. When they remixed they went back to the original multi-track tapes and, in this case, can be quite revealing.

In most cases you will hear things that were purposefully not in the original mix. One of the most obvious is on Break On Through where the word "high" was originally edited out. Instead of "she gets..." it is now "she gets high." There are many other examples.

Besides changing the mixes, the remixes bring you closer to the studio with much less analog tape interference than ever before. It makes everything that much clearer.

You could go for each of the Doors individually remixed 40th anniversary studio albums of course, or try it out with this compilation.

If you're looking for the Roy Loney Groovies, this ain't it. If you're looking for the Shake Some Action Groovies, you're almost there. It's the transition period between what was and what would be. Most of the material is just before Shake Some Action's official version a year or 2 later on Sire Records and a few are from the early 1980's just before they pull the plug.

It's rough around the edges recording wise, but this rocks like there's no tomorrow. A must have for the die hard Groovies fan.

Flo and Eddie ride again.

LaserLight is usually known for cheap repackages of old material, however this is not one of those. This CD consists of new live recordings from the mid-90s Happy Together tours and a couple of live shots from the '60s all of which are excellent. And there are two pages of liner notes inside the booklet.
This is a great addition to any Turtles collection.

Johnny Nash - I Can See Clearly Now (Epic 1972)

The case for reggae music had been building for me since about 1969. Desmond Dekker's Israelites being the first one that caught my attention and my money. Then there were records by Paul Simon (Mother & Child Reunion) and Paul McCartney (Love Is Strange) that caught my ear. By 1970 or 71 I was working in Seattle's local CBS warehouse as a go-fer. Promotional copies were my pay when this album came through. It features three Bob Marley songs and 1 co-write with Johnny Nash. These were the first Bob Marley songs I heard. I was ready for the Wailers' Catch a Fire when it showed up the next year. Then there's the added bonus of the fabulous Johnny Nash penned title track, which has a great positive take on life.
It's a keeper.

If you're looking for soothing acoustic jazz guitar, this is the jackpot. Andy Summers (of The Police) and John Etheridge (who played with Soft Machine) both have virtuoso level skill on guitar and they play together fantastically. Make no mistake, this CD is almost all guitar duets. There's no drums or keyboards, and very little bass. It's very mellow stuff. All acoustic. If you happened onto this CD's page because you were looking for something that sounds like The Police or earlier Etheridge work such as '2nd Vision,' this won't satisfy you. On the other hand, if you're looking for something new to play at your next cocktail party or candle lit whatever, put this one in your cart. Every tune on this CD consistently shows how great acoustic guitar can sound.

I had had this performance on a high quality stereo bootleg called "Country Bump" since the mid seventies and had enjoyed it immensely and played it often.

It turns out it was a private performance for CBS executives and promotional people. Poco was out to impress with their replacement for Jim Messina, Paul Cotton. They don't disappoint. The performance is high octane Poco showcasing, at the time, new, as well as, older material. Showing that the band had not lost a step.

Imagine my surprise when it shows up on an official CD! Needless to say I purchased it right away. It remains in my collection to this day.

I love Morrison Hotel. This was their return to what they did best. After the letdown (IMHO) that was the Soft Parade this was a gigantic return to form. And rock they did. Check them out as they roll through Roadhouse Blues all the way to Maggie McGill. There's not a stinker on here. It's a focused and driving album.

1) This Diamond Ring
2) Count Me In

4) Everybody Loves a Clown
5) She's Just My Style
6) Sure Gonna Miss Her
7) Green Grass
8) My Heart's Symphony
9) Paint Me a Picture
10) Sealed With a Kiss

These are re-recordings by the group. While they are re-makes, they aren't bad, just not the original versions of these songs. For the most part the arrangements are the same. Only on occasion does the instrumental break veer off from the one you expect from the original version and you might notice a synthesizer in place of the strings or horns. Gary's voice sounds a bit fuller and less reedy on these, which is a slight improvement.

As long as you know these aren't the original recordings, you won't be that disappointed.

"Oho may not be a band that you are familiar with unless you were part of the Baltimore Washington music scene in the 80's and 90's, but this album has to rank as one of the top albums of it's era, and stands the test of time. The music is as fresh and relevant today as it was when originally released."

Look. I love Boz, but this album was ill advised 1980's shclock. Boz is much better doing his R&B thing with real live instruments as opposed to this synthesized mess. MTV did not do him any favors. Even his big hit period (see: Slow Dancer and Silk Degrees) is better than this. I actually prefer his first 4 albums (Boz Scaggs self titled Atlantic album through My Time) and starting again with his Virgin Records output. Maybe if you are like some people and this kind of 80s stuff tickles your fancy you might like it, but I would suggest you do not start here.

The queen of heartbreak will make you believe...

There's a reason this hits collection has been in print for so long. It's the most concise collection of Patsy Cline's country/pop hits that you can find. From the Willie Nelson penned "Crazy" to "I Fall to Pieces," there is not a dud on here. The songs were all hits before my time, but they still have that special something. A Michael Nesmith cover of "I Fall to Pieces" on Loose Salute was how I came to know of Patsy Cline (thank you Mike). If you have never heard her, do yourself a favor and go listen to either of the above mentioned songs (or any of the songs on this album), then treat yourself and get this CD.

The track listing above is correct. The one below from ajs227 is something else.

Peggy Jean E's review below was for her CD only. It doesn't work for this 10 track listing. There are no bonus tracks.

This is Janis' finest moment. She had finally found the band of her dreams and made the album that would have propelled her to the top even if she hadn't died.

If you're new to Janis' work, start here.

This is a fascinating and high quality dip into the Stax Records archives. 60 minutes worth of outtakes and unreleased tracks. No acetates or vinyl rips that I can detect. These are straight from the multi-track and master tapes. You may have some of these songs on other albums, but they are not the same versions you are used to hearing and there are previously unreleased gems as well. There is very little repetition during those 60 minutes other than two versions of Dock of the Bay.The stay in school promo has been released on an Otis Box, but that is the only real repeat here.
This is not really a formal Otis Redding album, but it is well worth your time and repeated listens especially if you love Otis.
