Johnny Nash - I Can See Clearly Now (Epic 1972)

The case for reggae music had been building for me since about 1969. Desmond Dekker's Israelites being the first one that caught my attention and my money. Then there were records by Paul Simon (Mother & Child Reunion) and Paul McCartney (Love Is Strange) that caught my ear. By 1970 or 71 I was working in Seattle's local CBS warehouse as a go-fer. Promotional copies were my pay when this album came through. It features three Bob Marley songs and 1 co-write with Johnny Nash. These were the first Bob Marley songs I heard. I was ready for the Wailers' Catch a Fire when it showed up the next year. Then there's the added bonus of the fabulous Johnny Nash penned title track, which has a great positive take on life.
It's a keeper.
