CD Reviews

Best CD/Band you might not know
ASH | Winston-Salem, NC | 04/28/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The Veldt was a great college band of the 90's. They were regulars on the Frat. circuit in the Triangle region of North Carolina (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill). I remember seeing them many times while at NC State. Together with the Connells and Dillon Fence, the Triangle produced some great college bands during this time."
Sublime Soulgazing
M. Peterman | 01/18/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Ever wondered what The Jesus and Mary Chain or the Cocteau Twins would sound like if they were fronted by Marvin Gaye? Meet The Veldt. Although the other reviewers have compared them to Living Colour and described them as simply a "college band," fans of dream pop, shoegaze, and related genres know better. The Veldt fuse a little hip hop and a lot of soul with aforementioned dream pop and shoegazing elements to create beautifully sublime music. As it stands, they are a hidden treasure of the past. The good news is the Chavis brothers continue to make wonderful music as their current incarnation, Apollo Heights. If you like this, be sure to check out "White Music For Black People"."
