Wow 2000, a 30-song collection by contemporary Christian music's top artists, is the pick of the litter thus far. Since 1996, the Wow series has wooed and won a large youth-oriented audience, with each of the yearly discs going platinum in exponentially rapid time. Strongly committed to youth issues and preserving family safety and harmony, Wow products contribute a sales percentage to charity and Wow 2000's share goes toward four antiviolence organizations. Additionally, this year's discs are encoded with software that provides Internet access while screening out objectionable content. As for the music, Moms and Dads will have no quibbles. On the purple disc, Third Day and Caedmon's Call deliver country-inflected delights, tunes from Jennifer Knapp and Plumb beg for repeat plays, while Audio Adrenaline and the O.C. Supertones pump things up. The silver disc showcases favorites Jaci Velasquez, Rebecca St. James, and Sixpence None the Richer, who contribute their hit "Breathe." --Paige La Grone

CD Reviews

Best WOW album ever

(5 out of 5 stars)

"As with many of you, I have purchased every WOW album. There have always been about a fourth of the cuts that were just "OK". Not so with WOW2K. This one REALLY is the best Christian Contemporary music of the year. However, my favorite group, The Waiting, was conspicuously absent. If you are just starting to purchase Christian contemporary music, START WITH THIS! It will give you a good idea of some groups you might want to try more of. Great representative samples of all the best recordings. BTW, I got this for several dollars less at Wal-Mart."

"I love this CD. My purple disc got very over worked, since I played it over and over and over and over and over again. If you are new to the Christian music scene, this is the CD to start with. Is has a large variety of the best Christian groups and songs. Some of my personal favorites:PURPLE DISC (this is the sorta more "active" disc-like for teens and stuff)4. "Consume Me" by DC Talk-this song talks about being totally committed and on fire for Jesus. "You consume a burning flame running through my veins."8. "Get Down" by Audio Adrenaline-this song is about humbling yourself. John 3:30 "He must increase, I must decrease."9. "I Want to Know You" by Sonicflood- I have sung this at my church before, and it's one of my favorite worship songs. "I want to know you, I want to hear your voice, I want to know you more."12. "Away From You" The O.C. Supertones- "There's no life away from You." There is no life away from Jesus, simple as that! I especially love the fact that these guys are the Orange County Supertones...since i live in Orange County. :~)14. "The Rumor Weed Song" The W's- this song gets me dancing around my bedroom every time. It's a Veggie Tales song about how rumors are spread.SILVER DISC (the "less active" disc...teens will like it too, though, I'm a teen, I should know...)1. "Speechless" by Steven Curtis Chapman-When you really take the time to get into God's presence, you are speechless when you realize what He has done for you!4. "Show You Love" by Jaci Valasquez-a song about witnessing to people by simply loving them like Jesus did, and does!9. "Revive Us" by Anointed- a song about revival in the body of Christ! 11. "I Will Follow Christ" Clay Crosse-a great song about following Jesus "I will follow Christ, I will run the race, fighting the good fight, standing on my faith."12. "One of These Days" FFH-I love this song! It's about how "one of these days" if you know Jesus, you will go to heaven! "One of these days, I'm gonna see the hands that took the nails for me."15. "Cartoons" by Chris Rice-This is a very unique and FUNNY song! My best friend and her sister and I couldn't stop singing it for days, and we laughed every time we did! It's up to you to buy the CD so you can hear this song and see for yourself...**Basically, this is a great CD! I love all the songs on it, these were just a few of my particular favorites. If you buy this CD, you will not regret it! There is something here for everyone!**"
