Album Description
On this handsome little package, Cowboy Sally curls up by your bedside and softly croons a dozen lullabies for adults about dreaming cowboys, sad milkmen, sweetheart waltzes, Dr. Strangelove, and bloody snowbirds. CD Reviews

Wonderful listening...

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Sally Timms can really sing and her lyrics are outstanding. Her melodic and crystal clear, delicate voice really deliver some poignant lyrics. The more I listen to this CD the more I want to listen to it. I not only purchased one for myself, but I have given it to two other people. Dreaming Cowboy is probably my favorite of a number of great songs on this CD."
The beautifully haunting voice of Sally lingers...

"...for a long time after the songs are done. I've been a long time fan of the Mekons, and Sally's wonderful voice. As the years have gone by, I've been digging deeper and deeper into the American folk music and country music catalogs out there, and have been a big fan of the whole "Alt-country" or "No Depression" genere that's been going on. Needless to say, I was pleased to hear Jon Langford and Sally Timms had ventured off in this direction as well. Sally's EP "Cowboy Sally" and this newest full length disc "Twilight Laments..." are beautifully done gems. Sally sings covers ranging from Dolly Parton to the Handsome Family (another favorite of mine from the Chicago indie scene), and does them all wonderful tribute with her etheral vocals.

I had a chance to see her and Jon Langford pass through town to promote their latest Bloodshot EP "Songs of Faith and Devotion". The show was wonderful, and Sally sang as beautiful as ever.

Five stars, and a welcome addition to my collection."
Outstanding album from an unlikely cowgirl

"Sally sings these songs brilliantly, as though she was born for them, but she certainly wasn't. Sally is from Leeds in England (a city I know well) and began her musical career in punk rock. I am unfamiliar with her story, but it is clear that there has been a major transformation somewhere along the way.Even though she has lived in America for many years now, she still has an English accent. The musicians are of a high calibre. They get their chance to shine, but it is Sally's haunting voice which is the outstanding feature of this album. The songs all soft and slow - even her cover of Johnny Cash's Cry Cry Cry, which we all know as an uptempo rocker - it's almost unrecognisable here. This album is pure magic, nothing like any mainstream album, nor like any other cowboy music that I've come across - cowboy albums are usually more upbeat than this. It is therefore difficult to say which customers this is most likely to appeal to, but it will certainly appeal to those, like me, who are always looking for something different."
