Synopsis

Album Description
The deep, joyful and soul-moving tradition of Celtic music meets the top-rank pop musicianship of our time in the inspiring and intimate Distant Shore, the brand new solo album by ORLA FALLON, formerly of Celtic Woman. For years, Fallon has held audiences spellbound the world over with her pure and emotional singing and virtuoso playing on the Irish harp as one of Celtic Woman's stunning talents and beloved soloists. Now Fallon delivers 13 wonderful, newly recorded songs that takes the listener on an amazing musical journey. From the hit single, "Dancing In The Moonlight" to the gorgeous track "Always There" Distant Shore delivers on every level. The album was produced by Eoghan O'Neill (pronounced: Owen) and Dan Shea. O'Neill is a founding member of the seminal Irish folk-rock band Moving Hearts, and was Musical Director of Riverdance-The Show. For the past five years O'Neill has shared the world stage with Orla as Celtic Woman's Musical Director and bassist. Shea, a multi-platinum American producer, whose long resume of hit pop productions includes tracks by Mariah Carey, Carlos Santana, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion and Martina McBride, produced and/or co-produced six tracks on Distant Shore. Shea and John Bettis wrote the title track "Distant Shore." Bettis, an American lyricist, has co-written songs for several music legends including Madonna, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston and the late Michael Jackson. Additionally, two tracks on the album ("My Land" and "Always There") were co-written by Rolf Løvland and Brendan Graham, composers of the modern standard, "You Raise Me Up," best known in North America in the No.1 Josh Groban version, while several tracks were written by Orla herself. The album was recorded at the famed Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin and at Nashville's Dark Horse Studios - both recording facilities have hosted such platinum stars as U2, The Chieftains, Faith Hill, Van Morrison, Neil Diamond, Taylor Swift, Big & Rich and Martina McBride. Fallon continues her wonderful relationship with PBS as she appears on stations nationwide as a special guest star on Jim Brickman's Beautiful World and by herself in very intimate settings and performances.

Distant Shore - Phenomenal!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Orlagh Fallon's long awaited gift to us premiered 9/22/09 after much anticipation from fans who surely felt her absence from touring the past year with renowned Celtic group Celtic Woman.

"Distant Shore" is the culmination of a long time dream of Orlagh's and after much work this CD does not in any way disappoint Orlagh fans. This is sure to bring her many new ones.

Along with World Class musicians, Outstanding arrangements and of course, Orlagh's hauntingly beautiful voice, Orlagh exhibits an honesty of musical sense, sincerity, and Love for music that is all too lacking in the music Industry today.

Orlagh's spirit just jumps out at you listening to this CD!

And the variety of styles is just amazing.

This CD is a MUST HAVE!

Beautiful Work, Orlagh..Love it!"

"As a devoted Orla fan, I knew I would love this new album. But I was blown away by just how much I love it! The unique texture of her voice, along with the variety of styles, join together to make this amazing collection more than memorable! I believe this will appeal to all age groups, and to genres as diverse as Country & Western to New Age. This is good stuff!

Orla, I am so proud for you - I am over the moon! Thanks!

A Distant Shore

"Orla Fallon is probably best known as the harpist with the world renowned group Celtic Women. Her harp music is in my opinion the sweetest this side of the Pearly Gates. But after touring with CW she left to pursue her own music. Like many of her fans I wondered when her next CD was coming out. A Distant Shore is a winnier. You have a mixture of the traditional and modern Celtic music sung by one of tghe molst talented singers in the world. Orla has a very special talent that my favorite vocalist of the 70s had, Karen Carpenter. Like Karen Orla can take a song peel back the outer layers until she gets to its core its essential truth which all great songs have. Once shels found it Orla sings as though she was performing for the individual listenner. The gift of intimacy. If you loved Karen Carpent, Celtic Woman, Enya then you will enjoy this CD. Orla's music appeals to " the better angels of our nature". Honest Abe Lincoln 1861."
