While this cd doesn't have the amount of songs some of the other Merle Haggard discs have, it's definitely a nice find!
"Swinging Doors","I'm A Lonesome Fugitive",and "Movin' On"(from the tv series of the early 70s) made it on this collection and not "Hag The Best Of Merle Haggard".

This "Collector Series" has a great selection of songs itself. Hard to complain about a songlist that includes "Workin' Man Blues","The Bottle Let Me Down",and "Old Man From The Mountain".

It contains the quality songs sung by the legend himself and the fantastic guitar playing of Roy Nichols(Merle Haggard is a great picker himself).
While some of the songs are duplicates for what I have, the newer discoveries make this "Capitol Collector Series" a jewel.

"This may not be as fancy or as deep as other Haggard collections on the market, but you have to look at this CD this way. At one time there were no Merle Haggard cd reissues of his classic Capitol recordings. This came along and it was like heaven came down. So many new fans of the old traditional style were turned on to Haggard with this collection. So before you turn you noses up at this, please realize it's historical importance."
