60's Music that sounds as good today as it did 30 years ago

(5 out of 5 stars)

"In the midst of all the 60's noise and light, The Lettermen produced a string of great hit singles and albums that sound as good, if not better, today as they did when they were originally released. The original Lettermen, Bob Engeman, Tony Butala and Jim Pike, had a sound that seemed to flow effortlessly from the heart. This CD contains a beautiful cross section of their many different styles, from solos to group harmonies. While a great number of their single hits are not included here, there are great album cuts, such as "Moments to Remember" and "Graduation Day."If you are looking for angry, defiant music from the 60's, this CD is not for you. If, however, you want something that will still sound good in the year 2020, this CD is exactly what you are looking for."
The Lettermen raise the bar and make this album GREAT !!!

"When I Fall in Love is a wonderful CD by The Lettermen; they sing these love songs with passion and they really sound terrific! The quality of the sound couldn't be better and the artwork is very nicely done as well.

The CD starts with the title track, "When I Fall In Love;" The Lettermen sing and harmonize so very well--what a sweet melody! The strings are used to great advantage and "When I Fall In Love" is clearly a major highlight of this album. "Graduation Day" features The Lettermen squarely front and center--and that's right where they belong! "Graduation Day" is a pretty, nostalgic ballad that gets the royal treatment from The Lettermen who deliver this with great sensitivity.

Listen also for The Lettermen to do a great job on "Love Is A Many-Splendored Thing;" this song always tugs at my heartstrings when I hear it; and this rendition by The Lettermen really shines just as brightly as it did all those years ago when this group first released it! Great! "Put Your Head On My Shoulder" again puts The Lettermen right into the center of the spotlight-and they don't waste a minute giving this fine, timeless ballad their all. The Lettermen sing "Love Is A Many-Splendored Thing" with panache and I'm very impressed.

"It's All In The Game" is a much older tune that The Lettermen change a bit with some different keys to place their own stamp on this famous love song. It all holds it own very well as The Lettermen perform "It's All In The Game" with a lot of style and finesse. In addition, there's also The Lettermen doing a smash-up job on "The Way You Look Tonight;" this is a major highlight of this album and they sing this flawlessly. The strings are again used very well in a lush musical arrangement; and I really like "The Way You Look Tonight."

"All I Have To Do Is Dream" has a great tempo to make this belong to The Lettermen; and "Secret Love" shines equally brightly when The Lettermen slow down the tempo and make this perfect for late night slow dancing with your sweetheart all alone in your living room. The CD ends with The Lettermen performing "Too Young;" this song about the angst of teenage love and puppy love explores the universal human experience of a young love that we all enjoy at that time of our lives.

The Lettermen give us a great CD of timeless and classic love songs on this CD. I highly recommend this for their fans; and people who like classic love ballads will also want this album.

Thank you, The Lettermen!
