CD Reviews

Great music - but for completists only

"This is a great little ep cd, however all these tracks are available elsewhere (on Fatal Portrait, Abigail, & Them reissue cds) at the time of original release this was the only place to get "Phone call" (part of the "Them" concept, I remember making a "Them" cassette including this track from this album) or "No Presents For Christmas" originally only available as a single... but with these tracks readilly available makes this ep redundant now... great music, unbelievable vocals (it is King Diamond after all),great tracks, but if you are a completist then buy, but understand that this (as is all "best of's" I guess) has no exclusive music"
It's your Grandmother..........!

""The Dark Sides" is nothing to scream about, but if you don't have songs like "Shrine" and "The Lake", then this album is for you! Mainly a list of King's B-sides songs. "Shrine" is possibly one the bands' finest."
THIS IS A GREAT ALBUM FOR KING DIAMOND FANS!!!!

"The King Diamond "DARKSIDES E.P." was actually originally released as a "filler" album with some "RARE" tracks at the time of it's original release. The tracks come from the following releases: #1 "HALLOWEEN"-(FATAL PORTAIT), #2 "THEM"-(Andy La Roques's beautifully played intrumental piece! - THEM), #3 "NO PRESENTS FOR CRHISTMAS"-( originally released as it's own single and later re-released on the "FATAL PORTRAIT" REMASTERED CD as a BONUS TRACK), #4 "SHRINE"-( originally released as the B-side to the "FAMILY GHOST" single and later re-released on the "ABIGAIL" REMASTERED CD as a BONUS TRACK), #5 "LAKE"-(FATAL PORTRAIT), #6 "THE PHONE CALL"-( at the time of the "DARKSIDES E.P." this was the only place you could find this track, which ties into the "THEM" concept album story. It was later released ONLY in CD FORM (NOT LP or CASSETTE Tape version) it can also be found NOW on the "THEM" REMASTERED CD).This really IS a great well put together short album, it IS definately worth picking up and has a great cover picture of a CLOSE-UP of King Diamond's Make-up. This also is a great introduction to the band if you are a NEW listener!! This album in it's time certainly served it's purpose for us King Diamond fans while we were in between albums ("THEM" to "CONSPIRACY") and really adds to your King Diamond collection!! The production on this E.P. is excellent and it really packs quite a punch for being so short!!Check it out for yourself! In MY opinion I DON'T think you will be dissapointed!!! LONG LIVE THE KING!!! and LONG LIVE METAL!! (PS:) Be sure to check out ALL King Diamond's albums out for More TERRIFIC HORROR STORIES and EXCELLENT QUALITY MUSICIANSHIP!!!!"
