"Mick Turner and Will Oldham mesh perfectly on this short (~23 min) album. The music is heavily influenced by Turner, who's unique style of harmonium, loops, and noodling employed on the Tren Brothers EP really shines under Oldham's signature sing-speak. Although there is no percussion, the rhythmic wash of Turners looped strumming creates a soothing, languid flow. An excellent diversion for those waiting for a sophmore Tren Brothers album, and a nice addition to Oldham's impressive discography..."

"I just want to qualify my self, by saying I own probably about 95% of Will Oldham's works. From the early singles, all they way up to Master & Everyone. I will also state that I'm not a fan of all of his stuff, and am not afraid to give him 2 star reviews when he's not up to par. That being said, this short album is right up there with his best works. It's just simply incredible. There's a very weird song structure to each song, as the verse, bridge, chorus structure is completely thrown out the window. What you have here are songs that start at one point and just sort of end at some other point but the whole time it maintains a good theme and feel. As the previous reviewer has stated there is no percussion on this album and having listened to it I don't know how drums could be added. There's really no time signature to any of the songs, as the changes don't really follow any musical register. The vocals on this album are sort of narrations that are sung out by Will Oldham. The over all effect of this album is just staggering. Best enjoyed while the lights are out and you are lying down in bed."
