Or is that a lack of material? Powell's strong, Stevie Wonder-like voice is mostly wasted on these tracks, which too often recycle familiar grooves (Usher could easily do his "You Make Me Wanna..." dance to the first single, "I Wasn't With It") and hackneyed pleas ("I Can Tell," "Are You Missin' My Love?") to poor effect. CD ReviewsGreat CD!!!!! 10/21/1999 (4 out of 5 stars) "Jesse Powell's "You" is a wonderful and beautiful song. This song made me realize that I was indeed in love with the love of my life. So, I guess that you can say that is kind of like an inspirational CD. Congratulations Jesse for a great album and a job well done!" Very romantic,smooth style,can't wait for next cd 08/22/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "jesse's voice is very powerful and unique it's refreshing to here someone who can actually sing nowadays from a male point of view. "SHE WASN'T LAST NIGHT"is one of those song that is different but hot. dark child (rodney jenkins is talented). the single "YOU" is the wedding song of 1999 and jesse really explodes vocally. i heard a faster remix of "YOU" which is nice. could not find it though. "BOUT IT" is the 3rd single from the cd and again jesse delivers. "ARE YOU MISSIN MY LOVE" should be another cut from the cd, that's my prediction. of course the other cut's are very tight. this cd was worth the money" Impressive Suzanne Holmes | El Paso | 10/16/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "I was thoroughly shocked when I heard the CD.
