80's Fever!

"I have been a Mr. Big fan for awhile, so when I heard that two of Eric Matin's earlier albums were out I grabbed them! I was interested in hearing what he had done as a solo artist back in the 80's. Eric has his own unique style of singing, and I haven't heard an artist yet who sounds quite like him. He definitly stands out. He has the type of voice that mesmerizes a listener no matter what the music. He has a gritty sound that is at the same time smooth and easy to listen to. That is true with this particular album. The music he sings to is very common from the 80's-it's almost bubble gum poppish with a twist of rock thrown in to make it very catchy. The first time I listened to this CD, I thought that my ears had decieved me! Eric Martin sang this? The lead singer of Mr. Big? But as I listened to more of the tracks such as "Pictures" and "Just One Night" I realized that it was a very addicting selection of songs. Though the song "She's out for Blood" was a bit to cheesy for me. There was to much synthesizer, and the whole song just sounded off of the beat. Even though the song's theme is different, it was still to bubblegum pop-even by the music style of the day. One of of my favorites is "Call of the Wild" for the beat. It's great to dance to."Information" has the same effect. Overall this first Eric Martin album is highly enjoyable and I am glad he made it available to fans here in the United States. I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of his music as Mr. Big and want to explore this area of his career, or anyone who wants to relive the 80's with a great singer who's still going strong!"
