Synopsis

This quartet of corn-fed rubes, who collectively dress like young LBJ, hail from Los Angeles. Fortunately, they bail enough hay to keep the purists from upsetting the cracker barrel. The Dave & Deke Combo (named after singer/guitarist Dave Stuckey and guitarist/crooner Deke Dickerson) motor down the lonesome road pickin' and grinnin' like a bunch of squares who equally adore Elvis, Bob Wills & The Texas Playboys, and Hank Williams. In between plugs of chaw and bites of Moon Pie, the boys sing about everything from male pattern baldness ("Chrome Dome"), to Deke's attempt to get into heaven by playing the guitar like Les Paul ("Deke's Hot Guitar"). Mostly, it's righteous slap and twang that's irresistably danceable. As Deke says, "If they're gonna hang me / I guess I better swing!" --John Chandler

"The title says it all. Hollywood Barn Dance is a collection of country swing tunes with the fine polish of the Hollywood studio. The good time Licks and Lyrics will have you rollin back the rug. If you like Big Sandy, you'll love these guys. It's just too bad that Amazon doesn't sell home brew in a mason jar."

"I just accidentally saw a few seconds of MTV and grabbed my copy of Dave & Deke's "Hollywood Barn Dance" and threw in on the hi-fi. (er, CD player) This stump jumper felt better really quick like. It's a real shame they're no longer together and not playing Atlanta tonight!"
Excellent, start to finish!

"One of the few albums you can listen to straight through without getting bored; Dave & Deke were a superb team when it came to fun, get-your-feet-moving western swing!"
