She received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical for her role in the cult favorite "Side Show." After so much time expressing other people's visions, she felt a great need to create an original self, to put forth a voice defiantly her own. Alice Ripley IS the hope for popular music! She's in the same vain as Joni Mitchell, Jewel, or Carole King. She's a welcome relief from the pop-sapiness of Britney Spears.
