"Jonathan Goldman's "Chakra Chants" was one of the most exceptional albums I'd ever heard for healing and meditation. When this follow up album was released, I was a bit skeptical. I needn't have been. It is superb! "Chakra Chants 2" equals, and perhaps even surpasses the first CD. Perhaps this is because on this recording, along with Sound Healing Pioneer Goldman, is his mentor, Sarah Benson (described as being 'the Divine Mother of Sound Healing')whose exquisite voice and flutes add even more magic to the extraordinary power of Goldman's voice. "At first I thought that this CD was just another repackaging of Chakra Chants 1 but the instruments have been replaced by the voice of Sarah Benson and the difference is amazing. All the other sacred sounds remain the same but the addition of the female voice brings unity, balance, enchantment and beauty to the recording which puts it into a unique space of it's own. You can use the recording as a tool for meditation or toning through the chakras.
The booklet within the case is a mine of information in itself, giving many of the sacred sounds associated with each chakra and a guided visualization to enhance the healing power of the sounds."

"A follow up to Jonathan's Chakra Chants, this 63:22 minute CD (a little over one hour), from 2006, is perfect for alternative healing, such as meditation, reiki, acupuncture, etc. It was, of course, designed to align the chakras. It is the standard Goldman vibrational type music. You can also use it to drift off into a sleep state. Although not what most people call music, this is the music that healers generally use. There are long, sustained notes and heavy vibrational sounds. In the background, I hear sustained voice sounds, and water sounds, that may be rain and thunder and crashing waves in the first 2 tracks. There are also other electronic sounds interwoven into each track, including voices, vocal harmonics, Tibetan overtone chanting, bowls, bells, tuning forks, flutes, conch shells, rain stick, shaker and harp. Incorporated in the CD are Sacred Vowel sounds, Bija Mantras, sounds from Shabd Yoga, with a diatonic major scale starting on the note C. Sarah Benson and spouse Andi Goldman also assisted with the music in this CD.
As is typical with Jonathan's CDs, there is an extensive 16-page booklet included to explain the basics of what Chakras are, how he made the CD, his intention for the CD, and the various sounds used. In the chakra explanations, Jonathan provides the sounds that relate to each chakra, so you can tone along if you like. There is also a guided visualization explanation in the booklet, telling you how to move through each chakra. Jonathan uses the Tibetan Bells to signal you when to move to the next chakra and he rings it for the number of the chakra. In other words, if you hear 4 bells, you know you are moving to the 4th (Heart) chakra, so you do not have to break from your meditation to put your attention on the heart chakra. The CD flows from one track to the next with only a slight break of silence in between.

And, yes, I could feel it rooting around in my chakras while I was playing it and writing this review, especially the crown chakra. I may need to drop some spackle into that hole it just bore in the top of my head! (This is some good stuff, man!)

"I bought this CD as a follow up to Chakra Chants 1 which I absolutely love.
The chants on this CD and Chakra Chants 1 are rolling and layered vocal sounds connected to each chakra center. For example, "uh", "eee", and "om"
Chakra Chants 2 includes sounds in nature that correspond to each of the chakras as well, which is different than the first CD. The nature sounds do not continue through the duration of an entire chant. They are introduced at the beginning of each energy center or track on the CD for about 10-15 seconds.
For me, the experience of this CD is that the way it is put together differently from Chakra Chants 1 results in deeper meditation. I normally steer away from the rainforest/creek, stream and bird noise type of music. This is NOT what this CD is. It has just a few elements, as mentioned, and the results for healing and balancing have been extraordinary.
This CD has a deeper and heavier feel to it than Chakra Chants 1. It seems a bit like it is more intense or that it is doing healing work at a different emotional level than the first CD.
I do go back and forth between using Chakra Chants 1 and Chakra Chants 2 to change it up. The intensity of this CD isn't something I'm always ready for, so I do recommend owning the first CD for more subtle balancing work. I feel that having both is a compliment to very thorough balancing.
For any sound healing CD I do recommend closed stereo headphones. It is a different experience to meditate to this CD with earbuds, and different again than listening to it through speakers. There are very subtle and beautiful tones that flow through that seem like they can only be heard with the closed headphones on.
