"I own all versions of Chakra Chants that Goldman has produced and pre-ordered this one with a lot of anticipation to experience how this version would be different than the others.



Each version seems to have a subtle energy running through it that guides the senses towards a different focus.



For example, my experience with Chakra Chants 2 is that it is more intense in the areas of grounding and sense of purpose while Chakra Chants 1 has a vibration to it that is more intense in the upper centers that focus on compassion and spiritual or cosmic connection.



This version (crystal bowls) is yet another wonderful and different experience for me. I've used it for meditation and personal healing therapy several times since I received it.



There is something about the composition of this one that works to induce an alternate state of consciousness very quickly. The prominent energies with this one in my opinion seem to be more intense in the 6th and 7th chakras with a highlight on "having clarity".



The journey begins at the root chakra and finishes at the crown.



Each track is roughly 10 minutes long. This is a bit longer than I'm used to for working on each energy center. His previous works have them at about 8 minutes.



The sound from the bowls is so pristine and clear and crisp, I actually don't recall ever hearing anything like it!



The specially tuned bowls in this CD ring for me in a way that is just magical. The vibration coming from sound of them playing is just so marvelously "clean", really the best way I can describe it is that there is a lot of the color white in it.



The chants become whispers that get lost in the ringing of the bowls. That was an unexpected and pleasant surprise to me. I was expecting the sounds of the chanting to be more dominant but I hear them more passively. All of the sounds meld together very well.



I have other singing bowl CDs (seven metal bowls) and they will ring a vibration that can get pretty close to sounding like feedback out of a microphone and it just hits a place that sounds uncomfortable and grating. The crystal bowls used for this are nothing like that!



It is very entrancing. It is not a CD that I would recommend for ambient background music because of the pace of it. As a sleep aid I think it would be great.



I do feel that the healing that comes from working with this version is just as thorough and effective as the others. It is nice to have the different versions for change of pace."

"I have 5 chakra meditation MP3s by various artists and this is hands-down my absolute favorite. There is so much going on at so many levels with the chants and the crystal bowls, it is a joy to experience the surges of energy as each chakra is balanced and activated. Perhaps the very best thing about it is the simple detail that the bells ring the appropriate number of times between each meditation to identify the number of the next chakra, a real help if you go pretty deep but want to refocus as the next sequence begins."

Vibrational Chakra Healing Music

"A 2009 single CD release from Jonathan Goldman and Crystal Tones, this is what I refer to as vibrational music. If you are already familiar with Goldman, this is the same type of music. In this case, crystal bowl sounds are interwoven with the other long, sustained notes. Very beautiful, very peaceful, and very meditative, this CD would likely enhance any alternate healing therapy (reiki, acupuncture, meditation, etc.) or could be used merely to induce a better night's sleep or even just to listen to.



The 7 tracks are each over 10 minutes and there is one for each of the 7 commonly expressed chakras. Total album time is 73:53, or almost 1 ¼ hours, which is certainly conductive to an alternative therapy healing session. If you don't know what I am talking about, chakra is a Sanskrit, or ancient, term meaning wheel. It refers to the main energy centers of the body (root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, 3rd eye, crown). Many believe that by playing specific musical tones, you can cause each chakra to vibrate to the proper tones and re-balance the energy, thereby aligning the energy within and possibly preventing or repairing disease. If you don't believe in this possibility, I can understand your reluctance to accept the simplicity of it. Of course, this is only a part of it all, but combining music therapy in addition to a healthy diet, exercise, and working with yourself spiritually can make a huge difference in your life (in my humble opinion). By the way, there are all kinds of scientific studies on the relationship between sounds and healing, so if you are interested, please read on.



A 24 page booklet is included, which explains how to use the CD, details about the chakras, the chakra sounds, the system that was used in this CD, the intention placed into the CD, the use of Ting-Shas/Tibetan Bells, the resonance of the crystal bowls, and additional explanatory notes on the recording.



As explained in the booklet, this CD can be quite trance-inducing. So if you are trying to follow the music chakra 1, chakra 2, etc.--FORGET IT! Besides, that would likely ruin your experience of "going into" the music. The Bells ding peacefully at the beginning of each chakra track and match the chakra number. So 7 dings mean you are at the 7th (crown) chakra. Knowing which chakra you are at can help you to place your attention and intention on the right chakra at the right time and the vibration of the bells is such that it will likely NOT disturb your meditative state. If you are not consciously following the chakras, your subconscious will likely take care of it while you are zonked out.



About a week ago, I attended a sound-healing conference at the Edgar Cayce Center in Virginia, where I met Jonathan and his wife Andi. This was one of the CDs we discussed at the conference. I have a pretty complete collection of Jonathan's CDs and I really enjoy them. Many times, I will plug one in and meditate out, no matter where I am, especially when I am trying to sleep in a strange hotel.



If you are someone who "feels" the energy, you will enjoy this cd even more because you are already aware of how chanting or playing certain music changes the energy in a room. If you play the CD in a room aloud, be sure to just sit in the silence with the energy after it has finished playing. I think many people miss that aspect of the musical experience.
