Good, but not great overview of Dillon Fence

"Dillon Fence were an underappreciated power pop band from North Carolina. This CD is full of great songs, yet contains only two from their best (and last) CD Living Room Scene (sadly now out of print). It was the only one of their discs on a major label (Atlantic) and maybe that had something to do with it.

Either way, this is still a nice introduction to the band's music.

The "+" part of "Best +" contains 7 new tracks from the band. This time around they've taken a more democratic approach, giving each member at least one song. But, only singer Greg Humphreys' "I'll Learn" stands up to their earlier work."

Greatest Hits are great -- new material not

"I'm one of the original DF fans -- saw them back in the day when the EP was released playing at the old Cat's Cradle. This hits collection and the tour in summer 2004 were mana from heaven. I advise anyone and everyone to pick up a copy.

But a warning: don't expect much from the new material. Only "I'll Learn" comes close to the old stuff. Otherwise, too much Kent and Chris singing and not enough Greg (he is the voice of the band, after all). I'm not sure what they were thinking giving everyone a couple of solo turns each.

"The new songs are great! The band has mellowed somewhat and the new songs demonstrate a new style for the group. I love it!!"
