Synopsis

Product Description
Silver Flower in the second release from Circus Mind. The band narrows there focus on this release to funky retro rock grooves reminicent of Steely Dan, Traffic, Little Feat, the Stones and Dr.John. The 4 piece band decided to shy away from the special guests that dominated much of the first release and it leaves a much clearer picture of who Circus Mind is. Here is a play by play: -The opening cut "Swing Set" is like a juiced up Monkey Man meets Jellyfish, another retro rock outfit from the 90's. -The Following tune smells like a modern day version of "The Band" with some swampy sounding beatles riffs. -"Drown in your Sea" has more of a worldly vibe that crosses Peter Gabriel with Phish and Santana - Silver Flower is the title cut and is a cross between a beatles taxman vibe and perhaps some who cut from who' next. (starting to see a pattern here?) - Divided We Fall is a super funked up piece with horns to give it a Tower of power meets Frank Zappa feel. - I want to know is a lating grooved piece that has old school Santana written all over it. - Injuns comin - is my favorite and has a New Orleans Mardi Gras Indian vibe meets P-funk for a rockin Party! - Done - here the band slows down to show off there rock balad prowess. Pink Floyd meets David Bowie. - Brighter Day is great fun New Orleans feel number that sounds like a mix of Randy Newman and Dr.John. This is a great piece and lyrically could be the best on the CD. - Possessed - A real rocker with a great keyboard solo I here flavors of Beatles and traffic here with Billy Preston on the boards. - How Many Days - this is the longest piece on the record and perhaps the most interesting. A James Bond meets Traffic vibe with a Bruce Hornsby Chorus all culminating to a jam that is Genesis from 1975! - 1,000 Goodbye's is the appropriatley named final cut of the record and part time band member Chris Butler does an amazing job closing the record with a real tear jerker. I think the general vibe of this record is party down funk rock with classic rock influences thrown in.
