My favorite recordings by the maestro include Luzia (1998) Siroco (1987) and
Zyryab (1990); he is in his stride as a master of the instrument (even more so than the work with Mclaughlin and Di Meola as he is in the forefront. In regard to this recording, it needs to be in your collection, period. if you are a novice to the genre, or a rabid aficionado bring this CD home; it is a Compilation album released in 1996 showcasing his early works. (Vol 2 holds Zynab which is worth the price of the CD itself.) This Vol 1 edition showcases the maestro at the top of his game in settings that merit a deeper involvement in the genre of Flamenco, and may well inspire a trip to Spain.
