I already had a lot of these songs, but I wanted to hear the ones I didn't have. There's a lot of bubblegum on this, but there are several other styles also. It's an interesting mix of music.

This was disappointing to me. This band really doesn't need a two-cd retrospective. There is a single disc comp which is very skimpy, but there is way too much filler on this set.

Title: Neptune City Artist: Nicole Atkins Label: Red Int / Red Ink Original Release Date: 1/1/2007 Date: 11/27/2009 |
Nicole Atkins has a big voice - think kd lang or Neko Case - but she uses her voice tastefully. She doesn't over-emote, like Melissa Ethridge, for example. Her songs and arrangements remind me of some of Roy Orbison's big productions. You should check this out now!

Polly is a pretty blonde-haired blue-eyed Brit who seems to suffer from low self-esteem. She reminds me a little of Alanis Morrissette. I like this cd a lot, but don't expect it to cheer you up.
