This international supergroup returns quickly with a follow up. While the wow! factor from their first relase has diminished somewhat, it still retains that slow burning intensity on several songs. Blues eets 7o's arena rock, sure not really innovative but I can;t remember rockn roll sounding this authentic or, just right on in quite a while. I love the Foo Fighters but you just can't remove the super sensitive, "let's just talk aout this" 90's man influence. Bands on the other side of the sectrum over compensate with unabashed but obnoxious throwack 80's/70's rock. I think this band with it's first two releases finds a balance.

I never got this “guitar god”. I don’t play guitar so that doesn’t help. Believe me I tried over the years, being exposed in high school and college. This collection only underlines my problems with this dude. He writes some average pop songs and makes blues and R&B sound soulless. He’s also a rascist so that doesn’t help either. Check out JJ Cale for a better version of this kind of stuff.

I've always found Mr Townshend's solo ventures to be a mixed bag of results at est so a compliation record seemed like a no brainer. Well, some obsucure gems were missed while a couple tracks should have been left off. It is the best of and not greatest hits so I think there may have been a little more room for creativity. That said, this is quite an enjoyable listen and a worthy investment if you like some stuff but are not a dedicated fan (although I guess if you are dedicated enough, you'll own this just to have it).

almost impeccable

Fantastic Supergroup of sort although the players here are lesser known. This is a straight ahead rock record like they used to make in the 70's. The ingredients are well mixed. Just enough blues, soul and arena rock to make it consistently rocking while adding some serious substance.

Their peak was 1984s Shout but they would have glimpses of greatness beyond that time. This album finds them having some middle ground between mediocre and great. For every Kickstart, we get Rattlesnake Shake or the kindergarten candy anthem Time for Change. When the Crue hits it though, they bring it home.

A valiant and solid pop metal release however significantly decreased in quality from previous effort, specifically Operation Mindcrime which is easily one of the best albums of the 80s. The big single is a Floyd plunder while many of the songs on side 2 are filler and unmemorable ( I dont have the disc in front of me and can only recall Anybody Listening as an example). Like many of their time, seduced by the prospect of commercial success which then measured up to mostly boring and mediocre results. Now theyre another sad example of has been bands splitting into 2 much lesser versions of what they once were. Bring back Chis and quit the petty legal squabbling and lets rock The Ryche one more time fellas!

Ted Nugent is lame and his music is increasingly prehistoric. Listen to something better like BOC, UFO or Aerosmith

Artist from South African, merges electronic music, hip hop, soul and pop nicely.

The pinnacle of the Nuges best work. He didnt get any better than these tunes. Good rock n roll, and fun party guitar but f**k this guy for making his music less enjoyable with his wacko beliefs. Im not canceling but I am disappointed.

Slash sneaks forward with this early 90's rocker. He was coming off the slowly dying GnR train. Slash was using his brand name and top hat to signify the continued commitment to the straight up honest and urgent rock which GnR produced on their debut.
Is this achieved?
kinda a bit? no not really but this is a good no frills record that long overstays it's welcome but also produced some under acknowledged classics including the still great Beggars and Hangers and the fairly decentneither can I, dime store rock, good to be alive and doin fine plus some other ok to mediocre songs. This is far superior to the Ain't Life Grand which followed.

Fantastic and underrated early 90’s “alt metal” ( I hate that term but can’t find a better one). They got a lot of attention for going acoustic like their peers Extreme, Mr Big and Firehouse leading to brief but soaring success. No one song sounds the same and they aren’t afraid to try stretching their sound. May take time to let this one settle in but it’s well worth it.

An essential collection for the casual listener

Kurt Vile is slowly making a niche for himself in the indie rock scene and this is the album that cemented his arrival as such. A long haired slacker whose music kind of washes over you when you dont realize its happening. His slow burn, take my damn time approach can prove quite cloying to some but those whom invest the time will benefit. This is equal parts time alone with headphones or end of the party music. Vile employs both acoustics and an almost twangy soft sounding electric guitar throughout the process. Having the benefit of looking back at this release as Vile now has more of a discography, I find Halo to be his masterpiece.

This band is terrible. Sorry but Im being a hater. Its truly generic hard rock that makes nickelback seem like rockin innovators. This was made for the radio in 2005 and thats where it should stay.

Another great record from this indie rock staple. I give it 4 stars as the back peaked with perfection on Keep it like a secret. Albums after this were very good especially their foray into shorter songs and poppier territory in 2001 but this album is more in line with BYP's 90's releases. Flourishing guitar solos, paranoia in the lyrics with subtle hints of rage and plenty Neil Young/Crazy Horse-isms. I know it's been said countless times about countless bands but this band should be bigger!
