CD Reviews

Soundtrack by Zbigniew Preisner

"I was upset to see that no artist was mentioned on the details page of this entry. Zbigniew Preisner is one of the best film composers in history. It is difficult to find his scores on CD in America. I hope that Amazon.com will add his name to this record for those of us who are in a constant search for his music in the states. CHECK THIS DISC OUT AND SEE THE MOVIE! You won't regret it."
Strings Of The Heart

"It's hard to find scores that can stand alone without evoking the visuals they were created for. Just whistle a tune from your favorite movie and you're bound to see on your mind's theater screen the exact scene from which the music sprang. Not that those musical moments would be any better or worse without their visual accompaniment, it's part of the magic of course. Alas, the music of Zbigniew Preisner can not only take you back to the very moments of Fairy Tale for which they were composed, but evoke emotions that reach far beyond the narrative. Having seen the movie several times, I was thrilled to find the soundtrack and eagerly played the themes on my CD player. The richness and lucidity of the melodies were as rich and vibrant as the colors I remembered from the motion picture. The ensembles are masterful as they weave in and out of the conflicts and resolutions in superb musical harmony. This work is truly a classic example of the high Art of rendering music for Film, not an easy task by any measure. My heart strings are obviously tugged."
