CD Reviews

Pleasant and bizarre meeting of singers
Michael Stack | North Chelmsford, MA USA | 08/29/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This one is kind of weird for me, I'm a big Leon Thomas fan, and was actually fairly impressed with Jeri Brown. The compositions are standards and songs that Leon was known for, the performances are often inspired, Jeri Brown has a fabulous voice, and Leon has lost little with age.But the material doesn't stand up against Thomas' renditions of it. Still, songs Leon never did, particularly the medley at the end of the disc, are wonderful."
Jeri Brown and more = superb
Mike Pollastro | Pullman, WA USA | 03/28/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"It's hard to believe anyone can criticize this recording. Jeri Brown is unreal, the greatest female singer today. This CD has her in top form. Throw in several outstanding duets with Leon Thomas and outstanding musicianship. It's easily one of my favorite recordings. The emphasis here is on scat singing and the voices of Brown and Thomas keep it exciting throughout. It's like a "Best of" recording, everything is that good. Yes, "The Creator Has a Master Plan" is the highlight and I can listen to it over and over again, but nothing else here is far behind. "Be Mine" is also quite special with David Murray on tenor. You have got to hear this, all of this. I now have two CDs by Jeri Brown and I am going to rapidly buy more."
