A good compilation of "best" songs

"I came to learn of Matsutoya Yumi's unique singing and song-writing talent on a brief 1 year stint in Tokyo, when I found her vocal style a refreshing change from the "cutesy-cutesy" sounds of so many J-pop female idols. I was told by (male and female) Japanese friends, and also read, that Yumi is "not so cute, doesn't sing that well, but writes great songs". I certainly agree that she writes interesting and varied songs, many of which are on this CD and span a career lasting well over a decade. Several songs on the "Neue Musik" CD have been featured heavily on Japanese TV dramas over the years and have been very popular. Sadly, my personal favorite "Suna no Wakusei" was not included on the present CD. It's a wonderful, airy, surreal song about a "Sand Planet" that features Yumi's nasal singing style at its very best. If that song had been included on the "Neue Musik" CD, I would have rated it a full 5 stars. For the 'missing' song, you'll have to check out the CD "The Dancing Sun", track number 2. My friends back here in the States agree - it's well worth the effort!"
They call this yumi magic

"my first LP of Yumi is 1986 DadiDa and my most favourite LP of Yuming is "Sokuban o Iishimasho" Sadly, I don't like the music of her recent years, but If you hear this CD, you will know what mean of New Music, the song you hear from this album you don't know what is new or old or what year they release because all the song is give you "new" feels, this is the only best album Yumi release in her 20 years of singers life after her marry with her husband (her ex-name is Arai Yumi, the name when she debut in 1973, the first sucessful singer to show Japan people what is new music!) sorry, Yumi is not idol singer from the very beginning, her sucess is not only because she is a talent singer, other reason is she has a great arranger husband Matsumoya Masataka! If you want to buy other Yuming Album, I suggest you buy her album before 1990, all is great, I sure!"
