Album Description Since 1991, Yulduz Usmanova is the most popular representative of Uzbek World Music. Originally discovered by Blue Flame Records, Yulduz has an immense amount of song material still available reason enough to finally release a socalled "best of" CD. Also available: "Alma Alma" 39840572, "Jannona" 39840772, "Binafscha" 39840852, "The Selection Album" 39850022 (all released on Blue Flame World Music). The music from Yulduz is an outstanding fusion in the international pop music scene. The 34 year old graduate from the department for oriental music at the conservatory in Taschkent composes her songs on the basis of old folk songs still sung in Usbekian villages today. This traditional Usbekian folklore, that include Turkish, Persian and Central Asian influences, is being mixed with western Rock, Pop and Dancestyles. "When I started, I thought this traditional music has to be preserved", explains Yulduz, "although it had to be modernized." Each composition is carried by traditional instruments such as the Tambur (Central Asian long neck lute) or the Doira (original Usbekian percussion instrument), modern electronic and Yulduz's powerful, yet emotional voice. The result is an interesting synthesis, that show rhythmic, melodious songs and ballads. In Central Asia, Yulduz has advanced to a super star using this "EthnoCrossover"variation. In Europe music magazines and feature sections in newspapers highly praised Yulduz's first three CD's "Alma Alma" (1993), "Jannona" (1995) and "Binafscha" (1996) as special World Music "listeningpearls". It was the background music being played in the music section of the bookstore. I requested the store to get me the CD and unfortunately they never had another copy. The song being played was Dunya Dunya...Yulduz has a gifted voice. The depth, the passion, the serenity, the calmness, the rise and fall, the vivaciousness, the vigor and the sadness at times can easily drive a peaceful person into the realm of complete tranquility and desire. In short, I was immensely moved by her album. I cannot point out one number from any of her albums. Each song brings a different mood as well as sentiment with it. It's a pure delight to listen to a young woman who holds in her so many different facets of life and is able to express all of them in such an effective and beautiful manner. I was thankful to God for making me run into her heavenly voice and songs. I would strongly recommend her CDs. Lastly, I must mention that a singer or an artist must be judged by their talent in that area and not by the choices they make and have made in life. It's unfair to judge them otherwise. When i read the negative reviews about her personality, from Philadelfia i wondered who knows her personally so well there. Yes, i know she has a capricious personality and it is nothing for her to yell at some of her coworkers if she doesn't like something they do... i have been the evident of that many times in her concerts. BUT, show me a perfect person?! Each one of us- human beings have both our pluses and minuses, and nobody, nothing is perfect. If you would know how much help and support she gives to others who need it, you would not think the way you do. Watch the "Azizim" show, by Yoshlar and you will see her worm heart, and even cry yourself. Many people dislike her because she tells the truth and is honest, maybe. I admire her for her VERY big potential!!! She was born and grew up in a village, in a Muslim country, and proved everyone that it is possible to succeed, no matter what your background is. I grew up with listening to her every day. Now, i cannot imagine even a day without listening or at least mumbling her songs, that always make me think! As long as you understand the Uzbek language!!! Also I admire her patriotism towards her Motherland. It was obvious from her songs to understand that she is a potential politician. As for me, she is the BEST and the uniquest. There is noone who is similar, who has the same style. As for her personal life, God has given us success in one part of our lives, and has not, in another. NO matter what happened to her she never stopped, and never gave up. And that is how she achieved the success! I love you YULDUZ USMONOVA! You really have done a lot for Uzbekistan! I hope to hear you sing at my wedding:) !!!"
