A criminally neglected masterpiece.

"This was among 1991's best R&B albums but it was mostly ignored and as such was not the huge hit it deserved to have been. This is smooth, sexy and seductive soul that merits comparisons to such legendary "sweet soul" groups as The Stylistics, The Delfonics, The Dramatics and others. Sadly, this lovely CD was deleted shortly after its release but it's well worth looking for ."
Strong contender for the most underrated album ever

"There has not been an album like this album, since this album. The harmonies, the instrumentation, the lyrics...and the tragedy of it all is that too many people were denied exposure to this exquisite piece of musical heaven. A masterpiece for life."
Fell Through The Cracks

"When Johnny Gill's "My, My, My," (Teddy Pendergrass sytled) became a huge hit in 90-91 it showed (Motown) that you could still sell 1970s-minded soul music to a young urban contemporary audience; depending on how you made it obviously. Soul-meets-urban terms is what was on Motown's mind when it released Yours Truly's debut album, Truly Yours, the following year. Automatically Yours Truly was compared to similair acts; After 7 and LeVert, this male vocal trio (Ricky Jones, Terence De Vaughn Brooks, and Jerry L. Brinson Jr.) is a perfect example of what R&B critic Nelson George calls "retro nuevo" - Truly Yours has one foot in early-'90s urban contemporary and the other in classic '70s soul (you can tell Yours Truly has spent a lot of time listening to grups like the O'Jays, the Dramatics, the Chi-Lites, and Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes). The production style sounds 91, and Yours Truly for the most part don't sound too-dated, concentrating more on romantic ballads and slow jams oppose to the popular early 90s new jack swing style. It wasn't a exceptional realese, but a very pleasing and solid one, and derserved atleast a couple of hits, somehow though it fell through the cracks and received very little attention like most earlys 90s groups did (Mac Band, Real Seduction, Riff, Main Attraction). Truly Yours went out of print almost directly after it was released, but its worth searching for."
