10 - Andante

11 - Vivace

PONTINEN, Roland

12 - Blue Winter

This is an amazing album made by people who really know what to play how to play it. Christian Lindberg is a god with the trombone. He plays with brilliance pieces from very different styles. Take Vivaldi's well known (and much loved) "Winter" from "The Four Seasons", for example. Written for a light-speed violin, Lindberg deals with the composition with the precision of a shark and the virtuosity of... I don't know. Nothing escapes from him and you might wonder where's he going to lose. He doesn't!

On the other hand, Pontinen's "Blue Winter" (my favorite track here) is a long poem for the trombone that requires an amazing sensibility and a beautiful eye for nuances. I absolutely loved it!

The New Stockholm Chamber Orchestra was also a great choice and Okko Kamu really understands the beautiful relationship between Lindberg's trombone and all those beautiful woods. Truly a great match!

However, this is not an easy CD to listen to because it demands a great amplifier and great speakers. The recording is top-notch... but the nature of these tracks (in my opinion) are too demanding for a micro stereo system or your car. This is one of those CDs that simply beg for an owner who has a good stereo system - otherwise you won't listen to half of the riches this CD has to offer you.

This is CD to be felt."
Must have for any Brass Player

"Virtuosity at it's finest! As a trumpet player it is painful for me to admit this, but Christian Lindberg may be the best brass player alive! This from a man that idolizes the likes of John Wallace, Hakan Hardenberger, and Ludwig Guttler. But even these masters of the heavenly instrument don't seem to compare to the mind boggling technical accuracy and lyrical purity that flows from this album. This is a must buy for any brass player's library, regardless of what instrument you play!"
Incredible Virtuosity

"Is there a more perfect brass performer than Christian Lindberg? Listen to this recording, then ask yourself who might compete for the prize. Yet for all its technical brilliance--which is huge--LIndberg's musicianship lies finally in his love for the music and his exuberant joy in its playing. Most highly recommended."
