CD Reviews

I cannot stop listening to this!
Truth In Ad | Seattle | 07/19/2006

"I have got to say that this album is a most satisfyig ride. I caught a listen to DNAlien on internet radio not too long ago, and my first reaction was "Geez, another Genesis revisted clone". Well, I gave it a try thought not in the mood at the time. Now I cannot stop listening to it! In fact this, and the other album Vacuum, are the only albums I am listening to right now in my car! The hook for me was the drumming. It is amazingly crisp and powerful over all of the moody tones around it (perhaps since I am a drummer and also compose music with heavy drum orientation, I am a bit biased). The production is powerful and subtle. I no longer hear just the "Gabriel-esqe" tonalities of the vocals, but more how the voice works with the compositions. As for lyrics, I can barely make them out, but it's the sounds of the words that are in play here. Favorite cuts: The Ghost And The Teenager (love the ending!) and Moving Red. However, Heroes also stands out for me. Check it out!"
What If Peter Gabriel Stayed With Genesis?

"This excelent release from the Italian prog-meisters The Watch attempts to answer that question, and it largely succeeds.

It's certainly NOT a full-out clone but the influence is certainly there, and strong tracks like "--And The Winner Is--" for example show great care, top-notch writing and musicianship with an ear for memorable melody and a great sense of humor (however obtuse).

Definitely a worthy listen."
