CD Reviews

Best singer/songwriter is Karla Bonoff .....

"Victoria is a good songwriter. She's also a competent singer, but competence is not enough. There is just no excitement, and better singers are doing her songs justice."
Another brilliant country singer-songwriter

"Despite possessing a superb voice, Victoria has achieved greater success as a songwriter than as a performer. This album, the second and last that Victoria recorded for Warner, is an excellent showcase for her talents. Victoria co-wrote eight of the ten songs here, the exceptions being Stuck on you (an original song, not to be confused with other songs that share its title) and Different drum (a cover of the sixties folk-pop song).

The songs are about all aspects of relationships but several of the songs have a good-time feel to them including Just to say we did (about looking for excitement), All for the sake of love, Stuck on you (both songs about being happy in love), Wild rose (about being free) and I say the grace (about being in a perfect love). For contrast, there are sad songs including In spite of it all (about recovering from heartbreak), Let's talk about me (about a couple who won't listen to each other),Don't move (about the end of a relationship) and One of the days (about having a bad day).

Following this album, Victoria never again recorded for a major label but she later recorded at least one album on an independent label. Meanwhile, she continued to write songs for others although nobody sings her songs better than herself.

If you enjoy country music of the early nineties, you might find that Victoria's albums offer more than some albums by the major stars."
Fabulous voice. Incredible emotional delivery.

"Victoria Shaw is one of the most talented vocal artists to hit country/pop music in years. Don't Move is gut wrenching; In Spite Of It All is heartfelt and uplifting in its content; Just One Of Those Days is a song we can all relate to when remembering, or living through, one of those manic Mondays! Have been waiting for her to release another CD. Buy this CD and you will be a fan of Victoria and her style of delivery for life!!!"
