Synopsis

Product Description
On August 25, 2009, Vickie Winans will release what is expected to be the biggest CD of her 25-year career! From the knee-slapping traditional How I Got Over, to the tear jerking ballad, Release It, Vickie will once again give the world a phenomenal heartfelt CD. How I Got Over starts off where Vickie tells a story about her 11 brothers and sisters trying to be the first one to get in her Dad s and Mom s old black Chevrolet which only seats 6 people! As only Vickie can, she makes you laugh when she says, that after the car was full, the rest of her brothers and sister would have to run along side of the car on the way to church as if they were in the line of fire! But when they all finally got to church, her mother would stand up in what they called testimony service and throw her head back and sing this song... How I Got Over ... and when the track starts, it is on!!!!! Other songs on the CD definitely will show her urban contemporary side especially on the powerful dance song, Hey, a duet with Tye Tribett! This song promises to get you up and going, guaranteed! From the smooth Suddenly written by her son Mario when he was 15 and Debbie Winans is rich with passion. This 12 song masterpiece promises to be one of this year s best gospel recordings!

CD Reviews

Miss Vickie does it again!
B. C. CaBell | Maryland | 10/02/2009

"I must admit that as a long time fan I was bit disappointed that so many of the tracks were re-releases but overall I was quite happy with the CD. How I Got Over and No Not One are Vickie at her best. Swoop reminds me a bit of CeCe Winans but I like it. Release It was so powerful and Heyy is a sure-fire hit single! I have liked Suddenly for many years and never thought it got the play it deserved and I like that Alive, Alive was re-mixed from the last CD although I didn't really think it nor You're Still My Sister needed to be here since they were on the last album but I enjoyed them anyway. Overall a great CD. I love Vickie!"

Another Solid Effort From Vickie...

"Vickie is undoubtedly one of gospel's premier vocalists and sets the standard for many contemporary artists trying to make it onto the scene. She's been making remarkable records from the get-go and this is no exception. Although the fact that half the tracks listed on this album are from previous releases, only her most seasoned fans will find that a disappointment. After 25 years, Vickie can still blow! Every new track is absolutely outstanding. From the church-hoppin and funky' "How I Got Over" to the tearful ballad "Release It;" she proves she's here to stay. Not only does her voice still sound great,(kudos @ the high note @ the end of "Heyy") but, she still really knows how to minister a song. By the way, the songs "Swoop" and "Dance Til' The Walls Fall Down" have stayed on repeat on my stereo system...lol"
