CD Reviews

Great sound from poland

(4 out of 5 stars)

"First of all i admit that metal not my everyday music, i'm just heard it occasionally, but eventually i'm lucky enough to be landed on this album, it's almost impossible to find a good metal album in Indonesia, the average record store only have Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Iron Maiden, and other "old school" metal which i already heard. I little a bit surprised when i opened page about this album a day after i purchased this album early in November, it doesn't even released yet in America. So i'm lucky to be one of first persons who written review for this album. Enough about that let's move to the topic.
Via Mistica came out from Poland, and this is their debut album, and like the others gothic metal groups (Lacuna Coil,Within Temptations), they have a woman as their lead singer (Kaska), and like other women singer on this genre who must have beatiful voice, she doesn't fail to live up, as matter a fact she sing like an angel, it sort of a kid from Wina's church choir sing, and is not only that, she plays cello too. So what's the result ?
> Intro (2.06), nice intro to start, it has pounding piano and big drum, while Kaska sing in latin 8/10
> I would die for you (8.43), my second favourite, GREAT song with cello solo take over the vocal in the middle 9.5/10
> Sacred Whisper (5.11), GREAT song with cool intro, it has some growl as additional vocal 9/10
> Valley Of Fear (5.44), Oh my God! this is my first favourite, Outstanding vocal from Kaska with nice acoustic solo at the end, EXCELLENT 10/10
> Lost Desires (7.39), Lil' bit different, it has growl as lead vocal which provided by Hal and Marek, their bass and guitar player.Eventhough this track has great intro, due to weak lyrics, it makes this song far from great which is bad because this song has a lot of potential to be excellent, but at the half Kaska voice came and save this song from wackness,
MEDIOCRE 7/10
> Blaze (5.11), Has nice cello intro, but the vocal gettin repetitive but it's still GOOD song 8.5/10
> Eternal (7.30),The heavier song with some progresive taste at 3/4 of the song, GREAT 9/10
> When I Die (3.11) The shortest song, if somebody asked me about eeary lullaby, i will refer to this song,GOOD 8/10
> One Bridge Too Far (5.36) Have mix between fast and low tempo, my third favourite but the solo doesn't live up the song GREAT 9/10
> Gold Dust (4.37) GREAT song with nice acoustic intro, the tempo change at the middle of the song 9/10
> Outro (4.37) Same thing with intro but this time their use keyboard instead 8/10The problem with this album is they seem have hard time dealing with long tracks, there is some moment which is not right or not well executed, but overall this album is a decent debut from Via Mistica, is still enjoyable and plesant to hear especially Kaska voice which truly aural pleasure. The price maybe lil bit expensive for an album but believe me they worth to be acknowledged, GET THIS ALBUM"
