"ok, Protti is not great, but not bad either...and ofcourse, Kraus is consistent and proves to be a prince among tenors...but it is d'Angelo who really makes this live recording... her Caro Nome is ABSOLUTELY EXQUISITE...we don't get live singing like that these days (I've heard Andrea Rost, R.A. Swenson, et al)...d'Angelo's shaping of the musical line is to die for as are her timbre and sense of drama...the death scene is also unforgettable...get this, and you'll understand what I'm talking about!"

"Gianna D'Angelo's "Gilda", her signature role, is one of the most magnificent interpretations ever recorded. Her coloratura soprano is brilliant, agile, and beautiful throughout its entire range. The "Caro nome" is heavenly - her control of the sustained lines throughout the aria is simply breathtaking. The other artists handle their roles well and the live recording is vividly and evenly captured. A "must" own recording!"
