CD Reviews

Great prog-psychedelic band

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I did not know them, but one day flipping channels late at night I landed on their live concert broadcast on a all music channel and I was mesmerized by their powerful and yet highly sophisticated music. Long, complex, beautifully conceived songs (12-15 minutes) where their music wraps you around almost hypnotically. But make no mistakes: their music is nor lethargic neither repetitive. On the contrary is explosive and thrilling, a mix of Porcupine Tree, Pineapple Thief, Ozric Tentacles and Pink Floyd mixed with Led Zeppellin and a handfull of Flower Kings. The singer's voice recalls that of the Pineapple Thief but its guitar seems Steve Wilson's (Porcupine Tree). They sing in Italian but frankly who cares, it is clear to me that human voice is considered as an additional instrument.
Buy their two records if you can find them (their first one you can also order directly from their web site and if you ever have the chance to see them live do not ,lose them."
An absolutely awesome CD

"I heard Verdena for the first time while studying abroad in Italy and I was hooked. They are by far the best Italian band I've heard and their hard style makes all other Italian bands look like pansies, which to a great extent they are. Check out Centrifuga and Miami Safari, they are my two favorite tracks but the rest of the CD is really good as well. Spaceman, Nova, Starless, all great songs. Definetly worth getting, and their new CD is supposedly going to be even better, and having heard the first single Luna, I beleive it."
