CD Reviews

The Music Of Quatermass
Matthew Kresal | USA | 07/07/2008
(4 out of 5 stars)

"The three Quatermass films produced by Hammer Films are amongst the best films made by that company. Amongst the many aspects that made those films as good as they were was the music. This cd offers a fine collection of music from Hammer Films three Quatermass movies.

This cd has the fine score of Tristram Cary from the final film Quatermass And The Pit first followed by the excellent work of James Bernard for Quatermass 2 and The Quatermass Xperiment plus some electronic music selections from Cary for Quatermass And The Pit. My only real problem with the cd is that it has the films in reverse order. On top of that the cd puts a lot of focus on the score for Quatermass and the Pit while leaving only two or three minutes worth of music from Quatermass II. But it's the quality of the music that matters.

If one is a fan of Hammer's Quatermass films, this cd is a must. Fans of the work of either composer will also find plenty to enjoy here also. It's a grand selection of music from three of Hammer's best films."
