I'm typically leery of modern takes on classic songs, or even new material added to the catalog of Christmas traditions, but I found a number of really good cuts on here.
Sixpence's familiar semi-acoustic sound works great for their rendition of the Grinch song, while All-Star United and Fanmail have fun recreating pop Christmas classics and
Starflyer 59's Jason Martin offers his soft-spoken crooning on Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
On the more traditional front, Plankeye does well with Jesu Bambino, and Viva Voce creates a new, edgier version of God Rest ye Merry, Gentlemen, albeit a bit simplistic. I wish they would have sung more verses. The Normals have here, in my opinion, the most moving and well-arranged song in their Peace Child (O Come Emmanuel).
The rest of the tracks might have something to offer, depending on your taste, but even with just the above, it's easily worth purchasing or swapping for.
