CD Reviews

A FASCINATING MISCELLANY FROM THE SILVER SCREEN
Barry McCanna | Normandy, France | 10/25/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This compilation is titled "Did You Know These Stars Also Sang?" Listeners may answer Yes to some, but given the inclusion of Robert Mitchum, Paulette Goddard, Clark Gable, Barbara Stanwyck, James Stewart and Gracie Allen, to name but a few, I guess most would answer No. This is a fascinating miscellany from the silver screen, based upon film soundtrack extracts, topped up by radio recordings and the odd issued commercial recording. In his liner note Geoff Milne seems to be inviting suggestions for a further compilation, for which purpose I'd nominate Walter Huston's "September Song". A must have for film buffs, collectors of curiosities, and pub quiz compilers."
