CD Reviews

"classic jazz & hilarious Frazier moments"
J. Lovins | Missouri-USA | 01/25/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Always an integral part of the television show - "Frazier", includes the ever popular theme song and classic jazz standards performed by some of the greatest vocalists in musical history. But no "Frazier" soundtrack could ever be complete without the witty dialogue that so endears the show to such a vast audience every week and now through re-runs. Even without the accompanying visuals, are the laugh-out-loud witty dialogue tracks interspersed throughout the album and extensive liner notes, including comments from Kelsey Grammer and the writers (Bruce Miller/Darryl Phinnessee) of "TOSSED SALADS & SCRAMBLED EGGS, who incidently reveal the hidden meaning behind the theme song's peculiar lyrics.Of course there are stand outs - "MISS PITIFUL" the sultry sounds of Etta James..."I DON'T WANT TO WALK WITHOUT YOU BABY" perfect lyrical interpretation by the "girl singer", Rosemary Clooney..."ISN'T IT ROMANTIC?" smooth musical tones from the "first lady of song" Ella Fitzgerald to complete the night for two people in love..."FRAZIER (THE SENSUOUS LION)" performed by the first "diva" sassy Sarah Vaughn, this never appeared on the sitcom, but begged to be included. But the highlight is Frasier's noteworthy PBS performance of "BUTTONS AND BOWS", simply a classic track from this Emmy-winning comedy of 22 Golden Globe nominations, 7 American Comedy Awards, 63 Emmy Award nominations and 20 Emmy wins, including 5 wins in a row for Outstanding Comedy Series - a nomination received every year since its debut. Milan Records has released a wonderful tribute album that was long overdue...a must have for Frazier and Jazz fans alike!Total Time: 52:49 on 19 Tracks...Milan Records 35921...(2001)"
Tossed Salad and Scrambled Eggs: A Pleasurable Diet

"Most TV show soundtracks released are merely an extended version of the TV theme song and a bunch of music related or re-releated. And then there is the Frasier soundtrack, one in which all other TV soundtracks shall be judged.A perfect fusion of the best of jazz and the best of Frasier, this soundtrack is absolutely delightful. Interspersed among the songs are several hilarious segments for the show and I found myself laughing outloud in the bookstore as I previewed this CD via a headset. This work is truly a pleasure and one that will be listened to for a long time.If you are a fan of the show, this CD should be on your "must have" list . If you aren't a fan of the show, you will be after listening to this gem."
A great listen for any Frasier fan.

"The extended version of "Tossed Salads and Scrambled Eggs" alone is worth the price of the album...I probably listen to that one track almost every day...but the entire album is a treat, with several classic jazz songs, plus fun snippets of dialogue and musical performances from some of the more memorable episodes of the series. Although some of the dialogue bits might not make much sense to people who haven't seen the episode they come from, they are still hilarious and a great reminder of what made the show so popular--the writing and the cast, with the use of music acting as the icing on the already-perfect cake. If you're a Frasier fan, I can strongly reccomend this album. It'll bring back some great memories of one of the greatest sitcoms of all time."
