I think I just found a blues favorite!

"I haven't purchased a blues CD in a while so I bought this copy of "Downey Blues" on a whim. I have to confess, the real reason I bought it was because I liked the cover - I used to drive by that old record store everyday (They had pretty good selection of hard to find surf instro & blues CD's/LP's) I had no idea that the original Downey studios was in this very location, attached to the back of the store (where they currently kept their stock of 1000's of old 45's). Sadly they closed down shop last year (I think it's a lawnmower shop now). But back to music - WOW!! I think I just found a new favorite! This cd is packed with straight Blues, R&B & even hints of Soul (circa late 50's early 60's) some of this stuff I've never heard before - and believe me there is not one single weak cut in 18 tracks. The CD reminds me of the stuff put-out by the ACE label. Even though it only has 18 cuts I stack this up against any comp put out by ACE including my favorites "Blues Guitar Blasters" & "50's Juke Joint Blues"."
