CD Reviews

No Euro Trash Here
MILLMAN | The Woodlands, Texas United States | 03/31/2003
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I picked this cd up in the bargain bin and it looked good with a couple of artist I had seen or heard about before. Then I put it on and the dub beat on the first cut rang true. It was a good ride to france and begium and some chiil euro groove that really has a beat and yet a mile wide groove. This disc is detail with out the vapor trail. One hook after another and you don't tire of the beat like some chill albums that wear out one particular beat after another. Smell the clove cigarettes and the absinthe and settle in for some good euro vibes."
NO EURO-TRASH INDEED...

"Cafe Des Artistes is yet another CD I would walk past a million times in the record store without sampling or showing any interest in before I eventually decided to buy out of curiousity and the constant need for new music--I'm convinced it's a sickness now. The totally unoriginal CD cover aside, when I popped "Cafe Des Artistes" into my CD player, it was one incredible song after another. No typical downtempo crap with the usual innocuous artists and drone-like beats that after so long begin to sound alike. Instead, Cafe Des Artistes offers everything from reggae, to Brazilian-R&B, to acid jazz and mid-tempo-funk. And it all mixes nicely like a Hotel Costes CD. There are some well-knowns here such as D Note, Fila Brazillia, Aim, Zuco 103 (killer track by these guys), Nuspirit Helsinki and Mr. Scruff. Well worth checking out!!!"
