Sorry, but I REALLY loathe this album

"Okay I admit, there may be some pleasant moments in this album (but they are just moments), and some tracks ARE done well, but the album as a whole doesn't work. You DON'T create celtic music by making a cover version of a song with a guitar and a penny whistle. Nor is it fair to give the impression that these are by the original artists because, on my copy at least, they aren't.



The real problem is that this is supposed to be an album that creates a mood. For me, it fails dismally because just at the point where you feel "yes, this is celtic", it sticks in a track like "Evergreen" that breaks the celtic feel like nails scratched down a blackboard. How could "Walking in the air" or "Scarborough Fair" or "The Sound of Silence" EVER be rendered as celtic melodies? Don't bother to answer that - they can't - and that's the point. Too many tracks appear in here that can't be associated with the celtic style. Had they stuck the better tracks on one CD and dumped the tracks that are there as padding to make up two CDs, it would have worked a lot better.



My wife, who loves celtic music, asked me "Why on Earth did you buy this?". Well, Dear, it was because I didn't listen to it first..."
