Synopsis

Product Description
Burt Bacharach revolutionized popular songwriting, employing a previously unimagined technical sophistication that would find full expression in the sixties when with an astonishing run of unforgettable hits, he and his lyricist partner Hal David, ruled the pop charts. The Prince of popular music, Bacharach was now respected by everyone from Brian Wilson to Bill Evans to Frank Zappa, but his early years had been ones of struggle and frustrating compromise. This collection offers fascinating glimpses of an eclectic apprenticeship that culminated in the landmark first hits Magic Moments and The Story of My Life . Indispensable to all Burt Bacharach completists around the World, a collection of all of his early songs, performed by popular artists from Tony Bennett to Patti Page to Johnny Mathis, including the breakthrough Perry Como and Marty Robbins hits and a great many impossible rarities including Burt's own first solo single Searching Wind / Roseanne .

"Burt Bacharach: The first Book Of Songs 1954 - 1958, timeless works I enjoyed discovering in the popular reference manual, Burt Bacharach Song By Song by Serene Dominic.

I must admit, if it weren't for Mr. Dominic, I wouldn't have a clue where to start looking for seminal recordings from Burt Bacharach's formative years.

A good majority available on CD for the first time.

Before Amazon, I would've gone through tons of postage stamps, huge long distance bills, many tanks of gas, and a couple pair of shoes tracking down these songs on foot.

El Cherry Red Records are to be commended for assembling a significant chunk of Burt Bacharach's early recordings on one album.

Sensational product for sale, available at Amazon for a nice price.

While debuting his new incredible live album on QVC- Burt Bacharach With The Sydney Symphony Orchestra Live @ The Sydney Opera House, our Maestro asked the QVC Hostess if she had heard some of his earlier works like, Peggy's In The Pantry, or, Underneath The Overpass.

Our Maestro chuckled when she couldn't remember ever hearing the tunes.

Must have had something up his sleeve.

They're all here. What a gift!

"Finally a collection of the seminal Burt Bacharach songs. And unlike many reports, STORY of MY LIFE was not the first Bacharach hit.

Patti Page's KEEP ME IN MIND spent 7 or 8 weeks in the Cashbox Top 50 in 1955, years before STORY hit the charts. KEEP ME IN MIND peeked at no. 25 and ended up on the LP "THE VOICES OF PATTI PAGE". What a find this collection is!!!!!
