Brilliant compilation CD originally issued on vinyl in 1979 and giving a snapshot of the thriving Auckland punk rock scene at the time. CD issue has numerous extra tracks not on the original LP release. Comes with great 14 page insert with track details and essays. Features work by Phil Judd after leaving Split Enz. Also includes tracks featuring Brendan Perry of Dead Can Dance fame and 3 tracks by Toy Love featuring Chris Knox. 25 tracks of real punk rock.

Auckland NZ 1979 punk compilation

"You can hear the expansion away from the Pistols' big bang into the more diverse Buzzcocks-influenced punk-pop, along with bits of ska, Siouxsie, Undertones, X-Ray Spex, and various Stiff and Rough Trade record acts, on faraway New Zealand in over two dozen cuts. The standout, Frogs by the pre-Tall Dwarfs' Chris Knox-led band Toy Love, is almost epic in its diverse range, even incorporating a bit of the Moonlight Sonata, but the whole collection holds up surprisingly well twenty-five years later."
