Synopsis

Product Description
Afghanistan: Rediscovered Treasures was created in conjunction with the art exhibition of the same name: Collections from the National Museum of Kabul, presented by Musée Guimet (The Guimet National Museum of Asiatic Arts in Paris) from December 6, 2006 through April, 30, 2007.

The title Rediscovered Treasures refers to the exhibition s public display of findings from four major archaeological sites: Fulol, Aï-Khanoum, Tillia-Tepe and Begram. This includes the discovery of the Begram Treasure, two walled chambers filled with artifacts from the Mediterranean, China and the Indian sub-continent found in 1937 and 1939 at the site of the ancient Alexandria of the Caucasus. Behind the unique and exciting story of these rediscovered treasures, the exhibition pays tribute to the history of Afghanistan, which lay at the center of kingdoms and empires extending all the way from Central Asia to northern India.

Almost a survey course in Afghan music, the music varies from beautiful and romantic to spiritually uplifting. The Dari Love Song goes, even the talks about one s beloved are life sustaining. Songs from the Herat, Uzbek and Jalalabad regions and Logari and Kochi tribes (and more) are sung in Dari, Pashto, and Afghan Persian.
