CD Reviews

Great CD!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I think I have an earlier version of this CD but the contents are identical (released 1987, Pro-Arte) This compiles 20 of the greatest marches from the vaults of Intersound records.

All the marches are digital recordings performed by four great orchestras from all over the world:

London's Royal Promenade Orchestra conducted by Alfred Gehardt (track1)

Houstons' Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sergiu Comissiona (2,3,7-9,14,15

Bamberg's Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gary Bertini (track 4)

The University of Michigan Symphony conducted by H.R. Reynolds (5,6,10-13,16-19)

The CD runs smoothly and is tracked in a wonderful listening order. If you enjoy this I recommend "Pomp and Pizazz" by Erich Kunzel and the Cincinatti Pops, great companion CD to this one without too many duplication in tracks.

I'm sure there have been superior march CDs released in the past 20 years, but I've had this one for as long and I still love it."
