As one of Mexico?s outstanding chamber music groups, Sinfonietta Ventus has repeatedly been praised for performances that combine virtuosity with flawless ensemble playing. Composed of wind players from the major orchestras in Mexico City, the group has a broad repertory which includes the classical Harmoniemusik of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, original octets from the twentieth century, and a large number of arrangements of classical and popular works. Sinfonietta Ventus has toured in Europe, Latin America and the U.S., including an appearance in Carnegie Hall?s Weill Recital Hall in New York. Director Jorge Mester was music director of the Aspen Music Festival for 21 years, the Pasadena Symphony since 1984, and the Naples Philharmonic since 2004.
