A Real Gem

"I heard "Dot's Groovy" on an internet radio station and that launched me on a quest to find recordings by Montrose and Gordon. This compilation is fine showing of Montrose and Gordon blowing some great West Coast style tunes. Gordon is among the best bari players I've ever heard and it's a shame his career was cut short. Montrose was very creative and his fade into obscurity was a loss for the genre. The other players on the sets - Shelly Manne, Paul Moer, Red Mitchell, Conte Candoli and Ralph Pena - are all first class musicians. If you can find this set of recordings, it would make a fine addition to your Cool jazz collection."
