CD Reviews

True Vibe rocks!!
L. Howell | USA | 05/17/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Wow, this is a **great** CD!!! =D I am a *big* Plus One fan, so I thought I'd probably like True Vibe (both are Christian guy groups) and boy, for once I was right on! The True Vibe CD is terrific tunes, great messages and spine tingling harmonies all packed into 10 great songs. If you like 98 Degrees, you'll love True Vibe- they both have kind of the same sound, only True Vibe is Christian, while 98 Degrees is not. Maybe the reason for their similar sound is due partly to the fact that Jonathan Lippman (the creator of True Vibe) was also one of the founding members of 98 Degrees, but dropped out before the group really got going. In any case, I guarentee you will NOT be disappointed if you get this CD- it's awesome!!! My favorite tracks are "Jump Jump Jump", "Give You More" and "You Found Me"- but really, I love them all."
Better than Backstreet Boys!

"You would be surprised at this cd. They are like 'N Sync and other popular boy bands and the thing that would surprise you is that they are a christian band. That's what makes them better than 'N Sync and Backstreet Boys. I never owned any secular cds but I liked the popular music like 'N Sync. When I heard this cd at the store I felt happy because it's a christian boy band like 'N Sync and so I bought it. You would enjoy this cd if you are an 'N Sync fan. The fast and cool songs are Jump Jump Jump, Now and Forever, Never Again and Give You More. The other songs are cool too. If you don't like how 'N Sync and Backstreet Boys sing, True Vibe is for You!"
You'll get a good vibe from this album!

"Boy bands made a big comeback towards the end of the 1990s, starting with Hanson, followed by Backstreet Boys, 'NSync, 98 Degrees, and many, many more.In 2001, contemporary Christian music (CCM) saw two boy bands come on the scene.Founded by 98 Degrees founder Jonathan Lippman, True Vibe joined Plus One to become the first boy bands CCM had ever seen. With sounds compared to other secular boy bands, both groups quickly rose to the top of the charts. Unlike their counterpart, however, True Vibe went down a slightly different path. From the beginning, True Vibe chose to forego videos for the most part. In addition, their concerts were void of much of the dance moves found in other boy bands. Instead, True Vibe focused on their music and lyrics, seeking to get their message across without all of the pomp and circumstance. The lack of videos and dance moves doesn't seem to have dulled the enthusiasm of their fans. This self-titled debut album quickly introduces you to the harmony that this foursome is capable of producing. From toe-tapping pop-rock songs "Now and Forever" and "Never Again" to smooth flowing ballads "Sweet Jesus" and "You Found Me," True Vibe fires on all cylinders.Like their CCM boy band counterpart, True Vibe is also going through changes. At the time of this review, founder Jonathan Lippman is looking for the final replacement for the group after he and the other three members went their separate ways in mid-2003. While I do not doubt that the new make-up of the group will be just as good as the original, it won't be the same. For that reason alone (though there are many, many other reasons), you should add this debut album to your collection."
