Synopsis

Album Description
Jack Johnson's airy tunes surf cotton clouds on a palm-leaf board. His gentle melodies intertwine with dreamy lyrics to form the perfect soundtrack for driving along the ocean coast or relaxing in a swaying hammock. When the sun begins to set behind a rugged mountain range, spreading its hazy rose across the horizon, Jack's music makes perfect sense. The Bluegrass Tribute to Jack Johnson is a trip from the backyards of Hawaii to the front porches of Appalachia. Heaven-sent harmonies take songs like "Breakdown" and "Cocoon" to new realms of delight. Rambling banjo, tender mandolin, and feathery fiddle find charming warmth in this homage to Jack's best songs. Drink this bluegrass water and find your life changed.

Prefer Pickin' on Jack Johnson
C. Albanese | New York, NY | 12/17/2008
(1 out of 5 stars)

"I am quite disappointed by this album. I have other pickin' on album for Jack Johnson, 'Pickin' on Jack Johnson: a Bluegrass Tribute' [or something], which has no lyrics, it's just an instrumental version of the songs, but decided to download some of these [admittedly I do not have the whole album], and was disappointed to hear lyrics. I wouldn't really call this a bluegrass tribute so much as I would call it bluegrass remakes of Jack Johnson's songs. If you're looking for a tribute I would definitely recommend the other pickin' on album to this one. In a few words: very hokey, not good."
