CD ReviewsTODD SHARPVILLE - GREAT GUITARIST!!! Jan Frimmer | Ultrecht, Holland | 08/14/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "I stumbled across this CD after seeing the band live at a festival. I'd not heard of TS before I saw him play (finding out later that he's pretty well known on the hard-core blues scene), but he totally blew me away when I saw him. He plays the blues for real, with an authentic style that's tasteful yet powerful. This album has shades of early BB King, Magic Sam, Lightning Hopkins, and T.Bone Walker, yet the tracks are all original numbers bar two (a Freddie King cover: Gambling Woman Blues & an Elmore James track). The funkier tracks remind me of Joe Louis Walker, the older vibe of Otis Grand. The thing is, I can't understand how Otis Grand can show his face around the UK anymore, because Sharpville simply wipes the floor-boards with him! Similar style, but TS oozes way more class & emotion. I'd recommend this guy to anyone!"
