Synopsis

Product Description
North Carolina?s Tiger bear wolf has arrived and they have put the time in?searing and ingeniously complimentary stereo guitar work gracefully (and sometimes really awesomely not so gracefully) trade spotlight time with the T2-terminator-with-a-heart-of-gold rhythm section so maturely that it?s easy to ignore just how structurally creative these compositions really are. It?s a rare feat to pull off this kind of four-as-one interplay, and way, way rarer still to be able to deliver anthemic, cut-loose vocals on top of it all. This is for real. ?Because while every band my talk about saving rock?n?roll, these dudes can actually do the job. Hell, what other band can you name whose tunes combine the stooges? stripped-down swagger with Polvo?s noodly genius and the hellacopters ?70?s inspired shredding ? all in one verse? Yeah, that?s what we though.? - Jonah Bayer, Alternative Press.

CD Reviews

One of my favorites from this year
doug | Rocky River, Ohio United States | 06/21/2005

"This band is getting a minor amount of press right now, but that shouldn't last for long. They just seem to be a bunch of extremely talented musicians who have a knack for writing driving hard rock tunes. They do lack a little in vocal prowess, but what little singing skill they have fits the music perfectly. Just a really rocking band that should be heard by any fans of guitar based music."
SWEET JESEUS...oh yeah!! Just what the doctor ordered.

"Hello World,

Hands down one of the greatest rock albums of all time.Seems like all the "real" music is comin out of N.C. Co. and Canadia these days. This album is straight up no b.s. rock. Killer drummer reminds me of Janet Weiss from Sleater K. Excellent guitar work. Who said the guitar died in the 80's!!! With more bands like this the guitar will rule the world. Lastly, the dueling vocals really work well. Highly recomended people. If you can't stand the mainstream [...] out their, this is for you. They never got a break cause they probably want to stay with indie roots. Now isn't that true music? Cause it sure as hell aint Chem Rom or Wolfy Mommy. Pure soundgasm!!! Leave a mess."
They're on a mission
Monsieur Valentine | Northern BC, Canada | 01/12/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

""Well, I pick up my guitar because I know one thing worth saving is rock and roll!" They scream at the top of their lungs on the first song. Hell of a mission statement. If there's one thing we don't need it's another band coming out of nowhere telling us they're going to save rock and roll.

Here's the thing, though: before they even say it you already think they can do it. Their guitar work is so phenomenal and they change time signatures seamlessly. After they scream their mission statement their guitars do some screaming themselves. Tiger Bear Wolf know as well as anyone that first impressions mean a lot and they make it clear from the get-go that they're not messing around.

Sure, they can't sing worth a damn. Sure, the production is a bit shabby and it sounds like it was recorded in some guy's basement. But that all adds to the charm. Over production would probably hurt this album. And they said on their website that they're all "working on learning how to sing."

They sound like Jimi Hendrix mixed with the Ramones, with a little bit of Sex Pistols. They take feedback and make it their own, just like the greats of the past. Their riffs are potent and memorable.

Okay, you can't save rock and roll in 31 minutes, but TBW do make it clear that their agenda is not impossible for them to achieve. They've made an amazing debut and they're just getting started."
